Food Chain/Web
One of the more difficult pieces of information to find for your project is your animal's food chain/web. One of the more difficult pieces of information to find for your project is your animal's food chain/web. This is because most sources will not just state that information; rather, you will need to read, infer, and piece together elements to make a cohesive and sensible food chain/web. Some things to consider:
- Your animal may be at the bottom of the chain, the top of the chain, or somewhere in the middle. This is fine.
- Remember, the arrows in your chain/web point to WHO is DOING THE EATING (ex: orca < shrimp, means "Orca eats shrimp)
- Only living things should be on your food chain/web (no sun!)
- Humans should not appear on your chain/web. Although humans are to blame for many animals' deaths (through poaching, etc.), they do not belong on a food chain/web
- Totally lost? Try starting with a Google search like "Orca food chain" or "Orca food web."
- Images can be helpful too. Just make sure the image is from a reliable source
- Make sure to click on the link for the website on the image preview to take you to the website where the image is found
- This will help you determine if it's a credible source and help for when you need to cite the website
