BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

Picture

What is Battle of the Books (BOB)?
BOB is a competition where you read at least five books from the given list and write questions for each book you read (we will do this during meetings). Once we have the questions (later on in the school year), we will form teams for the practice battles. The more books you read will give you a better chance of winning the school competition allowing your team to move on to compete with teams from other schools!

Who can participate?
Any 7th or 8th grader who loves to read and can read at least one book from our list each month.  Each student will be required to read at least five of the fifteen books.

Where and when does BOB meet?
We typically meet different Thursdays each month. As we get closer to the county battle, we may meet more than once a month. Our meetings last until 3:20 and you can take the late bus home or get picked up. Our in-school battle usually goes until 5:20 and that happens once in the spring.

Why me?
Participating is fun! You get to read some great books and meet new friends with similar interests. Sometimes, we even get to go on a field trip. And there is usually a pizza party at the end of the BOB season!
