Media Center Resources

Policy 2530 provides guidance regarding the selection of resources for the district’s media centers.  NB’s Media Center Specialists implement this policy with fidelity to enhance the district’s collection and provide our students with access to varied resources.  The selections and acquisitions are guided by the School Library Selection Criteria of the American Library Association.  In a time of increasing public scrutiny of school practices and library materials, our Media Center Specialists’ Department Goal for 2021-2022 included the development of a procedure to respond to formal complaints of instructional or resource materials as permitted by Policy 9130.  At their February 1, 2022 meeting, the Policy Committee reviewed this procedure for implementation. This procedure includes clear communication to guide a parent or community member’s request for reconsideration of materials and a form for submission of the request.
