CIVIL WAR JOURNAL

Use the following website to research the Battle of Gettysburg and your assigned Civil War General. The topics are both from the same site, so you only need to cite it once. Two different links are provided to help save you time and navigate to the correct part of the website you will be using.

Do not forget that the website must be cited in Noodletools. Login to Noodletools.
  • Create a new project. Name it. Choose MLA for your style, Junior for your level
  • Then click the Sources tab at the top
  • Create a new citation. Choose website > web page

1. The Battle of Gettysburg
2. Biographies of Generals

Citing Images Found Online

Make sure you are logged into Noodletools and in the project (sources) you wish the citation to go
  • DO NOT cite directly from the Google image results page! To locate the information for your image citation, choose Visit from Google Images or click on the link for the image to open it in its location.
  • This will take you to the website where the image came from. You should be able to locate most of the citation information from the original website.
  1. In Noodletools (Sources tab), click create new citation
  2. Choose website > Photo or Image (Born Digital)
  3. Fill in the pieces the template asks for. You may leave out artist, date of publication, publisher, and date created if you cannot find those pieces. BUT, you MUST have the other components. Make sure to include the following:
  • Name of container website (this is just the website name)
  • URL
  • Recent date of access
  • Type of image
  • Title of photograph (or image). If there is none, you need to check the "untitled" box and provide a brief description of the image

Exporting Your Citations From Noodletools
  1. Ensure you have cited ALL sources you plan on citing and that they are cited properly.
  2. Choose Print/Export and then Print/Export to Google Docs
  3. Your work cited document should open automatically (named "Sources for [Noodletools Project Name]") DO NOT adjust anything. The formatting is correct.
