HOLOCAUST RESEARCH (spring 2021)

In order to successfully create your Google Slides presentation on your assigned Holocaust topic, please use the resources below. These are the ONLY resources you should be using. Should you run into any issues, email Mrs. Newman at LNewman@nburlington.com. Although we are working remotely, Mrs. Newman is very familiar with this project and the topics and can provide help on everything from tech issues, to research, and Noodletools (works cited).

Database

Gale in Context (high school)
  1. Go to the link above for Gale in Context High School.
  2. You will need to login to gain access. For the login information, click here (make sure you are logged into your school Google account)
  3. This database integrates with your Google account, so if you want, you can choose "Sign in With Google" at the top (this way, you can save articles, save any highlighting you do, etc.)
  4. Search for your topic in the search bar. There should be research on each Holocaust topic assigned.
  5. You can view any articles that come up in your search results, but the Reference articles will likely be the most helpful.
  6. Articles from this database are cited for you! Just export the citation from the database into Noodletools using the Citation Tools link in your article.

Websites

Remember, websites are not cited for you. You will need to add the information in Noodletools yourself. Watch the video on the right if you need more help with citing websites.

1. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

2. Museum of Jewish Heritage (Auschwitz)

3. Jewish Virtual Library
Citing Images Found Online

Make sure you are logged into Noodletools and in the project (sources) you wish the citation to go. Watch the video on the right if you need more help with citing online images.
  • DO NOT cite directly from the Google image results page! To locate the information for your image citation, click on the link for the image to open it in its location.
  • This will take you to the website where the image came from. You should be able to locate most of the citation information from the original website.
  1. In Noodletools (Sources tab), click +New Source
  2. Choose website > Photo or Image (Born Digital)
  3. Fill in the pieces the template asks for. You may leave out artist, date of publication, publisher, and date created if you cannot find those pieces.
Creating a Works Cited Page

  1. Ensure you have cited ALL sources you plan on citing and that they are cited properly.
  2. Choose Print/Export and then Print/Export to Google Docs
  3. Your work cited document should open automatically. If it does not open, check to see if your popups are being blocked (there would be a red X on the right side of your URL bar). Allow popups if needed and try exporting again. This time it should work.
  4. Copy everything on your exported works cited page and paste it into the appropriate slide in your presentation.
